Vale Foundation and Wheaton celebrate 10 years of partnership with visit to projects in Pará

    To mark the 10th year of partnership between the Vale Foundation and Wheaton Precious Metals, we have welcomed, in Brazil, members of the Board of Directors and executives from the Canadian multinational, which operates in the mining chain and is one of our main investment partners. The representatives traveled to Pará at the beginning of the month to visit the supported projects and see up closely the positive impact generated for the communities. 

    The partnership began in 2015, when the company, through its Partner Community Investment Program, signed the first collaboration agreement with the Vale Foundation, to strengthen basic health in Parauapebas (PA). Today, 32 municipalities in Pará and Maranhão have projects of the Vale Foundation in partnership with Wheaton, which has already allocated more than US$ 11.4 million to initiatives in the areas of Health, Education, Income Generation and Combating Extreme Poverty. 

    During the visit, the entourage was in one of the schools benefited by the Literacy Trails project, where the executives experienced some pedagogical activities, and at the Marabá Knowledge Station, when they had the opportunity to participate in the activities offered to the children and adolescents served. 

    More than 36,000 students benefited from literacy actions 

    7,330 students reintegrated into school 

    11,140 health professionals trained 

    912 public health and social assistance units mobilized 

    26 social businesses created 

    1,846 families benefited from initiatives to combat extreme poverty 

    5,118 people benefited from activities at the Knowledge Stations in Marabá, Tucumã, and Arari
