In December, the Inova Up program won the Human Being Award, from the Brazilian Association of Human Resources (ABRH) of Pará, in the ESG category. At a ceremony held at Senai Getúlio Vargas, in Belém, the initiative to promote start-ups and sustainable businesses was recognized for positively having impacts on the environment and society. The award was received by Guilherme Oliveira, scientific director at the Vale Technological Institute – Sustainable Development (ITV-DS), who represented the Vale Foundation. For the president of ABRH-PA, Junior Lopes, in addition to recognizing the best practices related to people management, the ESG category of the Human Being Award is a way to show society the performance of companies in favor of communities.

“Promoting the recognition of a case as interesting as that of the Vale Foundation is a clear demonstration for any company, whether small or large, that acting responsibly about Social, Environment and Governance is the direction we have today in the business world. At the same time that it recognizes, the Human Being Award also demonstrates the perception that the company is concerned with implementing social transformation actions for the population of Pará”, he comments.

The Vale Foundation initiative, implemented in partnership with the Amazon Entrepreneurship Center with complementary investments from Wheaton Precious Metal, was born in 2020, arousing the interest of young people from Marabá, Parauapebas and Canaã dos Carajás around entrepreneurship that protects and values nature, training them and supporting the creation of nine new companies, three in each city. The projects, which received support in marketing, sales, production, management, legal and accounting, had technical monitoring and seed capital to grow quickly.
