On April 16, the Arari Knowledge Station, in partnership with the Vale Foundation, hosted the Seminar on Good Practices in Family Agriculture and Agroecology, with the objective of boosting sustainable development and family farming. The event, hosted at the Rural Development Center of the Arari Knowledge Station, was attended by the secretary of state for Family Farming, Bira do Pindaré, and the researcher of Embrapa Cocais, Luís Guilherme, who shared valuable knowledge and experiences.

The event also featured cultural presentations, including the Creole Drum of the Quilombo Oiteiro dos Nogueiras, and a natural products fair, with the participation of six local family farmers. With live music, regional food tasting and a lively atmosphere, the fair provided a moment of celebration and fraternization among the participants.

Activities included a variety of workshops, about topics such as Biofortification, Non-Conventional Food Plants and Mead, as well as panel discussions on the importance of family farming and agroecology. The event brought together about 150 participants, including the fair permit holders, family farmers, rural producers and representatives of municipal public entities, along with several technical partners and Vale’s team.

During the seminar, panel discussions on family farming, food security and nutrition were held, offering opportunities for learning and exchange of experiences.

These initiatives aim to strengthen a more sustainable and prosperous rural community in Arari and the region, encouraging the exchange of knowledge and boosting the future of these sectors. The broad engagement demonstrates the interest and commitment of various actors in promoting family farming and sustainability in the region.
