Knowledge Stations promote special activities during school vacations

Vacations are a time to rest, but, in the Knowledge Stations (ECs), they are synonymous with body and mind in motion. In January, the ECs take advantage of the school break to promote activities that expand the coexistence and exchange of experiences among the children and adolescents served, strengthening bonds, integration, and cooperation. Here’s what happened at each Station:

Serra Knowledge Station

From January 13 to 31, 390 children and adolescents from Serra Knowledge Station, in Espírito Santo, participated in several Summer Activities developed by the Station’s team based on suggestions given by the students. The schedule ranged from treasure hunting to TikTok dance battles, from arcade championship to flag soccer matches (a sport in which players need to remove flags attached to their opponents), among other options. On Fridays, special actions marked the end of each week: Cinema EC, with a screening of “The Lego Movie”, accompanied by popcorn and juice; Pool Party, a poolside party with music, dance, and water games; and Graffiti Workshop, an initiative in partnership with the Youth Reference Center, located in the Novo Horizonte neighborhood.

Brumadinho Knowledge Station

In Minas Gerais, the Summer Camp at the Brumadinho Knowledge Station brought a lot of fun, interaction, and learning to the 275 attendees who participated in the event each day. From January 21 to February 3, over 20 recreational, sports, and cultural activities filled the kids’ mornings and afternoons. The options included a “What’s the song?” game, making mandalas, the magic bottle game (Q&A), ping-pong, soap soccer, basketball, volleyball, a party of colors, and even a “Lazy Day”, in which participants could relax and connect with nature during an activity in the EC’s woods.

Arari Knowledge Stations

From January 9 to 24, the Arari Knowledge Station, in Maranhão, held a Vacation Festival, with sports activities, cultural contests, hands-on actions, and educational workshops. More than 900 children and adolescents and about 50 parents and guardians also participated in the elaboration of a goals booklet for 2025 – a collective planning action that highlights the horizontality of the institution’s pedagogical proposal. The Station also hosted the 5th Meeting of the North Corridor Knowledge Stations, held on January 20, 21, and 22, which brought together 1,100 young people and educators from the Arari, Marabá, and Tucumã Knowledge Stations for an educational exchange and a series of performances led by the students (read more in the box at the end of this page)

Knowledge Station Marabá

In Marabá, in the state of Pará, the Knowledge Station promoted its traditional Summer Camp from January 13 to 24. The event brought together 150 children and adolescents, who participated in activities such as painting, sports circuits, tug-of-war, slackline, and a lively talent show. The program included an initial moment conducted by the psychologists of the Station, who addressed the importance of mental health care, within the White January campaign. This reflection served as a starting point for the other activities. In addition to the Camp, about 90 adolescents from the Marabá Knowledge Station took part in rehearsals and training for the North Corridor Knowledge Stations Meeting, held in Arari (MA), from January 20 to 22.

Tucumã Knowledge Station

Represented by 64 of its attendees, the Tucumã Knowledge Station (PA) participated in the North Corridor ECs Meeting, which took place in Arari, Maranhão, from January 20 to 22. The young people had the opportunity to socialize with peers from the other Stations present at the event during competitions in sports such as swimming, athletics, volleyball, handball, and soccer. In addition, they performed a scene from the play “Belém da Fé, do Cheiro e do Sabor”, in which they presented songs by local artists from the capital city of the state of Pará (Belém), as well as the so-called “festa da aparelhagem” (“sound system party”), a musical manifestation characterized by large structures of audio, light and pyrotechnic effects, under the command of a DJ.
