Vale Foundation in virtual event about Commitments for Learning Agenda in Maranhão
The Commitments for Learning Agenda is a set of actions created to ensure that all children from Maranhão reach the end of the second year of elementary school with the mastery of reading, writing and logical reasoning. These initiatives are part of the PARC – Partnership for Literacy in Collaboration, of which Fundação Vale is part with the Bem Comum Association, the Natura Institute, the Lemann Foundation and the State Department of Education of Maranhão. The Agenda of Commitments was presented in a virtual ceremony, held in June, with the participation of the governor, Flávio Dino, representatives of partner institutions and political leaders. Among the projects aligned with parc, is the Literacy Trails, an initiative of Fundação Vale that includes training of educators and the mobilization of the school community for early childhood education in the 24 municipalities along the Carajás Railway.
The CEO of Instituto Natura, David Saad, poke about the pact for literacy in collaboration, representing all partners. “It is important to recognize that this initiative was designed by the Government of Maranhão in an intelligent, courageous, transparent and republican way, with a collaborative focus between the State and the municipalities. The pandemic has brought enormous damage to literacy and today’s action marks a kind of response to the challenges. With the involvement of all and continuity, we will be able to overcome this scenario”
